What else is going on?
My husband grows maize. And he owns all the big boy's toys needed. His favourite is the combine harvester. We have had Millie one, Millie two and now Millie three. Each of them has been a John Deere 7200 show model.
He was getting ready to harvest and I heard the combine start. It purred like a kitten.
Choice, ready to go. Not. He kept working on it.
So what else was going on?
It needed a new alternator
The shaft bearing needed replacing
A hydraulic hose needed fixing
It needed an oil and filter change.
I had no idea there was all this going on. All I heard was the motor purring away.
People can be like this. All appears to be fine but sometimes there is something else going on.
Maybe your partner or mother or brother or friend is mostly purring but acting out a bit. What else is going on?
We don’t know what is going on in people’s lives and minds so we need to be very careful what we say.
I had a child in a class I was teaching (over 50 years ago!!!) who was acting out. I took her out of the classroom, sat down with her in the staff lounge and asked her if everything was okay. She burst into tears. Her parents were threatening to get rid of her horse. She was heartbroken.
What else is going on?
Whether people are purring or acting out, let’s be very aware that we don’t know what is going on in people’s lives. else is there?
