You can be the flavour in your home!
Have you ever eaten potatoes with no salt in them? Totally gross. Porridge? Food needs salt to bring out the flavour.
When Jesus said ‘you are the salt of the earth’ he was telling us that it is up to us to bring out the flavour of life. But what flavour are we bringing out?
Now before you get all thingy about what my mum said, just remember that if she were alive today, she would be 104. She was a totally different generation from me and even further removed from your generation. But it is still worth taking note of what she said. She was a very wise woman.
So, putting aside her comment about the man being the head of the household, which was true of her time, the second part of her comment is true today. Your mood affects the whole household. You can be onion salt and make everybody cry, or at least be miserable because you are miserable. Or you can be salt that brings out the flavour and enhances your family life.
Actually, when I think about it, those things I mentioned two weeks ago fit right in here.
You can be the salt in your family or the heart of the home by being:
true, honourable, just, pure, lovely, commendable, excellent and full of praise.
Your call. Your choice.
