Prayer
Good morning Church Family, Kenny here. During the week I sent out a passage from Romans chapter 12 verses 9-21 that I found hugely encouraging and challenging. We are going to use it again for prayer this morning:
1. Read the passage (the NLT is great!)
2. What parts of the passage do you feel you do pretty well?
3. What parts of the passage do you find the most challenging?
4. What parts of the passage do you simply not where to start?
5. Spend some time praying and asking God how to apply the passage in your context
6. Apply it! :)

An Account of Noah - Family Lockdown

"It's stopped raining! Let's get out of here. It's so stuffy and smelly in here. Open the window Noah." said Mrs Noah. After months of rain and hundreds of animals to care for she longed for some peace and quiet. Noah sent out a raven and back and forth it went. Then he sent a dove out and it came back. More waiting. Noah released the dove again and 'Yes'  it returned with fresh olive leaves. The excitement levels nearly hit the roof. Noah's kids just wanted to get started with a new life, get established and have a family of their own. The animals were all restless and eager for fresh food and freedom. "No," said Noah. "We have to wait."  Seven more days they waited. That was a hard week. When Noah sent the dove out seven days later, the anticipation was high. It did not return, that could mean only one thing, it had found a home. There was no more need for the ark. Then GOD spoke "Go out....bring out...." After a whole year in the ark of the most frightful weather, waiting, waiting, it was now freedom.

One of the  points that stood out to me when I read the passage in Genesis 8  was the anticipation of change.  Each time a date is set for the announcement of Covid levels, I have a sense of anticipation and it is so often followed by disappointment.  At the right time God instructed Noah to "Go out.... bring out".

In times of change, uncertainty and disappointment, we can put our full trust in God. "Trust in him at all times, you people. Pour out your hearts to him, for God is our refuge."  Psalm 62 Vs 8.

To trust in God at all times requires faith. It is not just an intellectual exercise. God invites your whole self, your emotions, your hurts, and your disappointments to be poured out to Him. When we do this we discover He is our refuge , as strong and certain as a mighty rock.

Almighty God and our Father,

We honour You and worship You today.

We bring our love and thanks to You, praising you for your great love and mercy. We trust you knowing you have all things in your hand.

Lord, may your will be done in our world. We pray for good governance, for those who grieve, for refugees, for the scientists working on Covid 19 vaccine, for the medical workers.

Lord, may your will be done in our community, in our workplaces, schools, and in our churches. We pray for the anxious, the lonely, the needy.

Lord, may your will be done in our lives. For our children, families and friends.

Lord change our hearts, renew our lives.

COME LORD JESUS.

Amen.
